Description:

How can health professional leaders get to the “table?” It takes a strong foundation in clinical practice, documented outcomes, leadership skills, executive sponsors, courage and yes, luck. This presentation outlines possible strategies for those aspiring to be in an administrative role that actively influences current and future organizational decisions and goals.

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of this session you will be able to:

  • Recognize your own willingness and readiness to move to the next level.
  • Discuss actionable positioning strategies that will potentially impact the likelihood of you moving to your next level of influence.

Our presenter, Dr. Dora Bradley, is a national leader in the professional development of nurses, and is the Associate Dean for Strategic Initiatives and Innovation at Baylor School of Nursing in Dallas, Texas. She is currently focused on creating innovative initiatives to promote executive leadership development as well as partnering with others to advance the nursing profession in Vietnam. Previously, Dr. Bradley, was the VP and Chief Clinical and Patient Learning Officer at a 45-hospital system where she was the PI of a 6.4 million dollar grant to create a virtual center for learning and innovation around the care of geriatric patients which has been used by healthcare professionals in 22 countries. Dr. Bradley has numerous awards and served on a number of national boards. She has published and presented on program Evaluation, outcome measurement, competency validation, leadership and learning innovation. She is a Fellow in the American Academy of Nursing.

  • The Women's Career Advancement Symposium was created as a direct result of UCSF female students and alumni asking OCPD for more help with questions around strategic positioning, confident communication and negotiation. As we recognize that everyone can benefit from learning more about these professional skills and strategies all UCSF students, postdocs and alumni of any gender identity are warmly invited to participate in the symposium.
